Answer from wherever you are
One account, one inbox, on whichever machine you happen to be at. The apps are not a cut-down version of the web app. They are the same inbox, plus the things a browser tab cannot do.

Mac builds are signed and notarised, so there is no Gatekeeper warning. iPhone and Android are in development, and we will email everyone with an account when they land. Free on every plan, including the free one.
A browser tab is a bad place to keep your support queue
It closes, it gets buried behind thirty others, and it cannot reach you once it is gone. That gap is the whole reason these exist.
Notifications that actually arrive
A notification on your machine and a count on the dock or taskbar, rather than a browser tab you closed an hour ago.
The same inbox, everywhere
Read state, assignment and drafts follow you between devices, because it is one account and one conversation.
Reply from the notification
Pick up a waiting chat without opening the full inbox first.
Stays out of the way
A menu bar or tray presence showing who is online and how many chats are waiting, and nothing else.
The web app is not a stopgap
It is the same inbox the apps use, and it works properly on a phone browser. Browser notifications and a sound alert cover most of what a desktop app gives you, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens without browser chrome.
The one thing a browser cannot do well is reach you once it is closed. That is the gap the apps fill, and it is why mobile is the one still in development.
