Turning on notifications on your phone

Being told about a chat when you are away from a desk.

The Talkfront mobile app can notify this phone about new chats, so you are not tied to a desk to know one has arrived.

The apps for iPhone and Android are finished and going to the stores shortly. The apps page has the download links as they become available.

Switching it on

In the app: Settings → Notifications → Notify this phone.

It is per device rather than per account, which is deliberate. A work phone and a personal tablet signed in to the same account are two different answers to “should this ring”, and most people want different ones.

What you will be told about

The same events as anywhere else, chosen in the same place: a new conversation, a reply on something assigned to you, and a chat nobody has picked up. See choosing what you get told about.

Turning a phone on does not change what your laptop does. They are separate.

If nothing arrives

Check the phone’s own permission. Both iOS and Android ask once, when the app first wants to notify you. If you said no, the app cannot ask again and you have to change it in the phone’s settings, under the Talkfront app.

Check you are available. Away and do not disturb stop notifications everywhere, phones included. See Available, Away and Do not disturb.

Check the phone is not in a focus mode. Both platforms have one, both suppress everything, and both turn on by schedule.

Signing in without typing

You do not have to type a password on a phone keyboard. Sign in by scanning a code from the panel on your desk.

Turning it off again

The same switch. Turning it off on one device leaves your other devices alone, which is the point of it being per device.
