The widget isn't appearing on my site

Five causes, in the order they are worth checking.

Work down this list. It is ordered by how often each one turns out to be the answer, and the first accounts for most of them.

1. The domain is not on the allowlist

The widget only loads on the domains listed against your website. If the one you are looking at is not there, nothing appears and the page is otherwise fine.

The ones people miss: the other of www and non-www, staging and preview hostnames, a checkout on a different subdomain, and localhost. Allowed domains has the detail.

Open the browser console. A refused request there confirms it in seconds.

2. The website is paused

Settings → Websites → your site. If the widget is switched off, the snippet still loads and the launcher does not appear. Easy to forget a fortnight later. See removing the widget temporarily.

3. The snippet is not on the page

Not “is in the codebase”. On the page you are looking at, in the HTML the browser received. View source and search for loader.js.

Common reasons it is missing: it went in a template that page does not use, a build did not deploy, or a cache is serving an older copy.

4. A content security policy is blocking it

If your site sends a Content-Security-Policy header, it has to allow the widget. A blocked script does not appear, and the only sign is a console message.

You need widget.talkfront.app in script-src and in frame-src. The Content Security Policy article has the exact header.

This one is worth suspecting if the widget works on staging and not in production: policies are often only set on the live site.

5. Something else on the page is broken

The loader is one script among many. If an earlier script throws, later ones may never run.

The console tells you. An unrelated error above the point where the widget should have loaded is usually the cause, and fixing the widget will not fix it.

Still nothing

Email support@talkfront.app with the URL of a page it should be on. That one detail turns most of these into a two minute answer, because we can look at the same page you are looking at.
